Fidra’s Position on Chemical Recycling

Concerns remain over the energy intensity and potential for harmful emissions from chemical recycling processes, including toxic chemical byproducts and greenhouse gases. Whilst chemical recycling may have a complementary role in future circularity ambitions, it must not distract from the more urgent need to limit plastic production and phase out harmful chemicals from product design.
