Based on the current size of the global plastics industry, between 2.2 and 22.4 trillion plastic pellets
(commonly called nurdles) are released to the environment across the world annually. The largest
contributions to this pellet loss are from Europe and the Asia-Pacific regions. Assuming pellet loss continues
at that rate, it is estimated that between 450,000 and 4.5 million tonnes (Mt) of pellets will have been
released to the environment between 2021 and 2030.
This global report provides an update on plastic pellet supply chain transparency, gaps and case studies.
To coincide with the release, we are hosting a webinar event on 9th August 09:30BST to discuss the report’s findings and how it can be practically used. We will be joined by consultants Oracle Environmental Experts, who have been working on the report.
We would like to invite you to join us for the webinar event.
