Sky News - North Sea Plastic Pellet Spill, March 2025 - News Article
In Spring 2025, the container ship, the Solong, collided with an oil tanker, the Stena Immaculate, 13 miles of the Yorkshire coast in the North Sea. A major fire spread on both vessels following the collision resulting in evacuation of the crew and the tragic death of one crew member. As a result of the collision, fuel and plastic pellets which were being transported by the Stena Immaculate spread into the sea and started to wash up along England's South East coastline.
This is a Sky news article showing the devastating effects of nurdles being spilled at sea.
